The Beginning
In 1999, a pivotal moment shaped Michael's creative path when he received his first camera for his 12th birthday. This ignited a creative journey that saw him crafting homemade movies and skateboard videos with friends. Despite initially pursuing marketing at SJSU, it wasn't until 2010, post-graduation, that Michael transformed his passion into a full time gig.
Establishing his first business, Ocean House Wedding Films, in 2011, Michael immersed himself in storytelling through the lens of wedding filmmaking. This period not only honed his skills in narrative flow and emotional resonance but also taught him the importance of efficient planning, effective communication, and the ability to anticipate and capture spontaneous moments. For six years, Michael dedicated himself to filming and editing weddings while simultaneously exploring the dynamic realm of music festivals, crafting engaging social media content that captivated target audiences and promoted events.
Documentary Filmmaking
In 2017, a significant collaboration with friend Joel Hersch led to the creation of Swan Dive Media. Merging Michael's visual storytelling abilities with Joel's narrative expertise, they added depth and authenticity to their projects. Their work spanned documentaries, branded content, commercials, and communications. Notably, their micro doc for Thor Industries, titled "Why We RV With Kids," gained over 4 million views, showcasing their ability to tell compelling stories that resonate.
